Spinning Yarns: Part 4 – Plying Your Trade

In part 3 we carded the fiber, not it’s time to ply it.

Plies are strands of twisted fiber, which are twisted together again to make yarn.  In the below video, we start with the ply itself.

As I get further into this process, I become increasingly self conscious about my novice status.  So if I have misnamed something or have poor technique, please feel free to comment and correct me.

All in all, though, what I am doing here will get you to the hat stage.  I am repeating the steps from last year’s project, so they have been tested.  Enjoy!

Cool! Very helpful video (for if I ever get enough cat hair to make an attempt…)
